Lemonade for Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour is when guests need a drink in hand before they need a seat.
That window between ceremony and dinner is short. People are hungry, a little restless, and looking for something cold. A lemonade station gives them that without sending everyone to the bar at once. We see it work across Dallas Fort Worth weddings week after week.
Why put lemonade in wedding cocktail hour?
Lemonade belongs in cocktail hour because it serves non-drinkers, kids, and anyone who wants something cold before dinner, and it gives your photographer a real moment while guests still feel fresh.
The open bar will stay busy. That is fine. What helps the hour feel hospitable is a second stop that does not ask for an ID. Grandparents, designated drivers, pregnant guests, and younger family members all get something that tastes like a treat, not a consolation.
Fresh-squeezed lemonade is the base. We squeeze citrus on site for Classic, Signature, and Premium service. Flavor add-ins come from our commercial syrups and purees (Finest Call and Torani on the shelf we use), so every cup stays consistent through a Texas afternoon. You pick two or three flavors. Guests decide in a second and move on.
Does a lemonade station help guest flow before dinner?
Yes. A lemonade stop pulls traffic off the bar line and gives guests a reason to wander the patio or lawn instead of clustering in one doorway.
Cocktail hour fails when one queue is the only place with a cup. Place the lemonade where people naturally pause after photos, near the lawn, the lake edge, or the covered patio, and the crowd spreads. Your coordinator will thank you. So will the bartender.
We handle setup, service, and cleanup. You enjoy the party.
What does a cocktail-hour lemonade station look like in photos?
It looks like a yellow-and-white striped stand, cups in hand, lemons on the counter, and guests who are still smiling from the ceremony.
That is the difference from a reception lemonade bar. Cocktail hour light is still good. Makeup is still sharp. Guests are not mid-dance yet. A nostalgic stand photographs as a place, not as catering gear. Staff holding cups, string lights, a basket of lemons. Those frames land in albums.

The empty stand shot above is the one planners pin when they want the silhouette without people. Same outdoor setup. Lake and lawn behind it. Useful for seating charts, detail boards, and the quiet before guests arrive.

Indoors, the same yellow-and-white stand works against a hedge wall and our "Quench Your Thirst For Joy" banner. Trade-show floors, hotel ballrooms, and climate-controlled venues get the full branded look without relying on daylight. If your cocktail hour is inside, this is the reference frame.
For a fuller take on reception styling and what photographs well later in the evening, we already wrote The Wedding Lemonade Bar. This piece is about the hour before dinner.
How many flavors for cocktail hour?
Two or three. One feels like a default. Four or more slows the line while guests decide.
A structure that works: classic lemonade, one Signature flavor, and one that matches your colors. Signature options include Strawberry, Peach, Mango, Watermelon, Cherry, Piña Colada, and Prickly Pear. Artisanal add-ons on Premium include Ginger, Coconut, Cucumber, and Lavender. Piña Colada contains coconut. Some flavors contain sulfites. Ask us for the label if a guest needs it.
Current packages, the Nostalgic Lemonade Stand upgrade, and the Truck Bed Cart option are listed on our catering pricing page. Staffing, setup, cups, ice, and cleanup are included on the made-to-order tiers. Delivery and tax land on the quote.
What should you ask before you book?
- Where will guests go first after the ceremony, and can a lemonade station sit on that path without blocking photos?
- How many guests need a non-alcoholic option (kids, dry guests, designated drivers)?
- Do you want two flavors or three, and which color matters for photos?
- Is cocktail hour outdoors, under a tent, or indoors, and what is the load-in path?
- How long is the window before dinner, and should the stand stay through reception or pack after the hour?
Bring those answers to us. We will map a setup that fits your venue and timeline.
